Tuesday, May 15, was the first anniversary of Leilei's joining our family. What a momentous year it has been--Leilei's had to learn a new language, adapt to a new country and family-style living, meet and learn to love family and friends--and Libby has had to learn to share the spotlight--and the big kids to live with another layer of chaos.
I have learned to live with another layer of joy. I'm a lucky mama.
Leilei had an ice cream party at school, which was wonderful. She's been having some sad times there lately, because her very best friend now prefers to play with others. With another kid, this wouldn't concern me so much, but since Leilei has been through so much this year, and is adjusting to her new life, it troubles me that she has this problem. So I was happy that she had one glorious day of being Miss Popularity at Acorn School.
After school, Auntie Gail, Kit, Kevin, Libby, and I continued the celebration at New Shanghai in Chinatown. Hao chi le! (think and hope this means "delicious!")
