"An invisible red thread connects those destined to meet, regardless of time, place, or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but never break." - Chinese Proverb
Oh, I believe this, with all my heart. I know that Libby and I belong together, and every day I feel so thankful that we found each other. Thank God for that amazing red thread!
I was helping her study for a religion test last night, and we were talking about "faith". I was giving her my spiel on how it's a gift, and how lucky I am to have it. She asked me what it felt like, and I said "it's trusting that things will be all right." She said, "yeah, see, I don't trust anybody." "you don't trust ME???" I asked, incredulous. "Your own MOTHER????" (the nerve of the girl!)
She looked at me shrewdly. "A little," she said.
I wonder sometimes how much her early months imprinted on her temperment, and on the way she experiences life. I can understand why she might not be wholly trusting of the world. She lived in one home for 3 months, then in the SWI for seven months, and then this wacky lady came to bring her home. The facts of her life are simple, and at the same time, mind-boggling.
Sometimes when she is very, very happy, Libby says "I love you more than myself!" Me too, Libby, I love you more than myself! Happy, happy adoption day to us both.
